The state of New York has updated their educational requirements to obtain a real estate salesperson license. Effective December 21, 2022, the salesperson license curriculum requirements increase to 77 credit hours (up from 75 hours). Please note that the NY Department of State has not yet begun the formal process of approving updated courses, therefore there will not be an approved 77-hour course for us to offer by that date - but we do have a temporary workaround.
If you have completed (or plan to complete) your course and final exam before 12/21/22, you MUST submit your course completion certificate to the state as part of your application prior to 12/21 to avoid additional education requirements.
If you complete your course and exam after 12/21, your 75-hour certificate of completion will be accepted by the State, but you will need to take an additional supplemental course on Fair Housing (which Aceable will provide free of charge), and then report the additional completion to the state before you will be allowed to take the state license exam. This free of charge supplemental curriculum has been automatically added to the accounts of in-progress students as of 12/19/22. You can navigate to it by clicking on "Your Courses" in the upper left of your course dashboard.
To ensure all students are able to meet requirements, starting on 12/21, your certificate of completion will not be issued until you complete the supplemental Fair Housing course. The state is expected to approve our new 77-hour course in January 2023. At that time, we will add the two hours of new content to the course curriculum, and you will no longer need to complete the supplemental content to meet your 77-hour education requirement to take the license exam. Aceable will notify all students when we plan to release these course updates.
