While we recommend filing your TREC application online, it is possible to apply via mail through a paper application. Doing so will incur an additional $20 paper processing fee as well as a longer processing time and there is a possibility that your application could get lost in the mail. It’s simply easier and more secure to keep things digital and file your application online.
- Print and complete TREC’s application form ISL-5 (download available at the bottom of this age). Fill out all required sections. You will need to provide your Social Security Number or your application could be denied.
- Include your payment of $225 as the application fee (this includes the $20 paper processing fee). It is nonrefundable and must be submitted with the application. Only a single cashier’s check, personal check, or money order payable to TREC will be accepted. If you have been fingerprinted for TREC before in the past, include an additional $27 with your payment as a background check fee.
- Print and include your AceableAgent completion certificates with your application.
- Mail it to this address:
Texas Real Estate Commission
P.O. Box 12188
Austin, TX 78711-2188
- If TREC requests any backup documentation, we strongly encourage you to provide it and get back to them as soon as possible to avoid further delays in the application process.
