What happens if I miss my renewal filing deadline?

You have several options!

If you have active deals, we recommend paying TREC a $200 deferral fee to extend your deadline and license by 60 days. You should not renew late because your license status becomes “expired” and you would not be able to close any deals during that time.

If you do not have any active deals, you can either renew late by paying a slightly higher fee or renew as inactive. For more details, click here.

Starting October 1, 2023, active license holders whose licenses expire will be set to inactive status as of the expiration date, and any license relationships to sales agents and/or brokers will be terminated.

If you late renew—up to six months after your expiration date—your license will be renewed on inactive status.
