What is the difference between the National and State portions of the licensing exam?

The National portion tests you on the day-to-day knowledge and skills that you need to know as a real estate agent. These questions are based on job analysis performed by Pearson VUE of real estate professionals to determine the nature and scope of tasks they perform. This section has been reviewed and approved by nationally recognized real estate professionals. It is 150 minutes long and made up of 85 questions, 56 of which you need to answer correctly to pass.

The State portion tests you on the specific laws, regulations, and practice of real estate in Texas. This section has been reviewed and approved by Texas real estate professionals. It is 90 minutes long and made up of 40 questions, 21 of which you need to answer correctly to pass.
