After January 1, 2016, anyone who fails the exam three times cannot retake the licensing exam or submit a new TREC license application until additional education has been completed.
- For each failed portion of the exam, you will need to take an additional 30 classroom hours. This means that if you failed either the National or State portion, you need to do an additional 30 classroom hours. If you failed both the National and State portions three times, you need to do 60 additional hours.
- Once you complete these extra hours, email your completion certificates along with a copy of your third failed score report to TREC at education@trec.texas.gov. It will take them about 5-7 days to process and re-authorize you with Pearson VUE so that you can reschedule your exam.
- Retake your exam and pass! If you only failed one portion of the exam, that is the only portion you have to retake. You do not have to retake the entire exam unless you failed both portions.
- If your TREC application expires, you must reapply.
