I have a felony or misdemeanor on my record. Can I still become a real estate salesperson?

When you submit your real estate salesperson application, you will need to provide a background check. If you are concerned that a felony or misdemeanor on your record, you may submit a Background Clearance Application prior to beginning the pre-license process. There is no fee to submit this application, and it can be submitted prior to taking any education or the licensing exam.

If you submit an Application for Background Clearance, please allow for a 1-4 month processing period. You will receive a notification by mail when your application has been processed. If you are issued a clearance letter, you will need to take it with you when you apply for your license.
