What happens if I fail my real estate licensing exam?

If you don’t pass, you’ll receive an unsuccessful notification on screen and a diagnostic report indicating your strengths/weaknesses by exam type.

If you test unsuccessfully, you cannot make a new exam appointment on the same day that you have taken an exam. For example, if you test unsuccessfully on a Wednesday, then you can call the next day (Thursday) to schedule a new exam and retest as soon as Friday, depending on exam availability. You just have to retake the portion you failed (state and/or national).

There are a couple of details to keep in mind - if you only pass one part of your exam, you’ll need to pass the failed section within 2 attempts or 6 months, whichever comes first, or you’ll need to retake both portions of the exam. Additionally, after a second attempt, an examination candidate must wait thirty (30) days between any subsequent failed exams to retake the examination. For more details, review the candidate handbook.
